It is also the only internationally recognized professional training accreditation. The ICF divides its coaching accreditations between the three important methods of training competent coaches.
By holding a coaching certification from the ICF, business and life coaches have demonstrated their knowledge, ability, and dedication to high ethical and professional standards. A coaching credential is a certification of your ability made by a third party who is qualified to do so, in this case, the International Coaching Federation or ICF. As determined by the International Federation of Coaches, a certified associate coach has completed at least 60 hours of training through an accredited training program and 10 hours of training with a mentor who is already an ICF certified coach in PCC or MCC. In its simplest form, to become a coach, a person must obtain certified coaching training and then be eligible for a credential through the International Federation of Coaches (the ICF). The ICF exists to lead the global advancement of the coaching profession and to empower the world through coaching.
Coaching is an integral part of a thriving society and each member of the ICF represents the highest quality of professional training. To obtain the entry-level ACC credential, the ICF will need at least 60 hours of specific training for coaches through an ACTP (accredited training program) or ACSTH (approved specific training hours) program.
